Maryum Ali, the eldest of Muhammad Ali’s nine children, recently held a book signing at the historic Guild and Underground Books to celebrate the 20th Anniversary edition of her children’s book, I Shook Up the World: The Incredible Life of Muhammad Ali.  Through her book, Maryum seeks to introduce children to one of the greatest sports legends and most admired men of all time, Muhammad Ali. 

According to Maryum, “the unique book layout reflects a series of boxing rounds, each round covering a different period in Ali’s incredible life. In addition to the foreword by Ali himself, there is a timeline at the back of the book detailing his life events that both kids and teachers can use in the classroom. The book is interspersed with Ali’s quotes and humorous poetry that will inspire children to have confidence, determination and advocate for what they believe in.”

In addition to being an author, Maryum is a public speaker, giving presentations on social and human service issues as well as about her father and his journey with Parkinson’s disease.
