Sac High Alumni Spotlight: Alexandra Gallegos, Class of 2024
Alexandra Gallegos attended St. HOPE Public Schools since the sixth grade. She was the 2024 Sac High valedictorian and student body Vice President and is now attending UC Berkeley. She attributes her accomplishments to the rigorous academic program and high standards set by the teachers and administrators at St. HOPE Public Schools.
Alexandra says that Sac High lets each scholar feel like they have left their mark and made an impact by the time they graduate. Through Sac High’s partnership with College Track, Alexandra was able to earn 25 high school credits during a six-week summer program in the Bahamas. She also participated in the Panther Pipeline, Sac High’s dual enrollment program with Sacramento City College, where she earned both high school and college credits. She says all of these opportunities helped her with career planning and in building life skills and she feels prepared to start UC Berkeley.
Diversity, equity, and inclusion are heavily incorporated into the St. HOPE academic curriculum and culture. Decorations for different history or heritage months are put up and lessons are incorporated into the curriculum to open conversations about past and ongoing stereotypes. Alexandra says it helps all students feel welcome and involved in the school and makes learning fun.
Alexandra is the third in her family to graduate from Sac High. She and her fellow Sac High graduates are excited to continue their education journey and she is proud that so many of her friends are also attending UC campuses.
